Tip of the Month: Dryer Sheets Help Clean Dishes

I really hate washing dishes. Who doesn't? I know, I know, but I think I may hate it slightly more than the average person. Especially pots and pans that I've baked with - food gets stuck on like glue and sometimes it's almost impossible to get it off. I'm a big fan of soaking - I will let an offending pan languish in the sink for a couple days, "soaking", until...well, until Dariush can't stand looking at it anymore and washes it, basically (yes, he complains about this often). Unfortunately for me, I no longer have my days-long soaking excuse, because I've discovered the fabulous little trick of sticking a dryer sheet in a pan with stubborn bits stuck inside it. It works wonders - just stick one in and cover it with warm water, let it soak overnight, and the next morning, you'll have a pan that's perfectly easy to clean. I've read that the anti-static agent in the sheets weakens the bond between the food and the pan, but I honestly have no idea if that's true - I just know it works. And it makes it more difficult to slowly chip away at Dariush's patience and sense of order until he finally does the dishes. Thanks a lot, Downy.
