Sloppy Joes

Sloppy Joes

(I talked about this recipe here)

1 pound ground beef
2 celery stalks, chopped
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

In a large skillet, cook beef, celery, and onion over medium-high heat until beef is browned.
Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar.
Simmer over low heat, covered, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove cover and simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally (the longer you simmer, the thicker the mixture will get).
Serve on buns.

makes 4 large sandwiches
